Although the statistics reveal that Benjamin Šeško has been scoring on average every 69 minutes this season, it is also true that so far he has been on the pitch in the jersey of
RB Leipzig
on the Leipzig team. Benjamin Šeško is not playing as much as he would undoubtedly like, and many of his German club’s fans are convinced that the youngster has a status he does not deserve.
Slovenian national team selector Matjaž Kek has blind faith in the 20-year-old forward, but admits that he is not surprised by what is happening to Benjamin Šešek in Leipzig.
“I said last summer that the jump from Salzburg to the German Bundesliga was such that it could go either way. I think this is relatively normal. A few more minutes would be nice, but poor playing practice can have consequences, especially for young people. On the other hand, it is clear that he has played two quality games for the national team every month. I hope it feeds him. He certainly has the desire and motivation to prove himself in one of the best leagues in the world,“, Matjaž Kek hopes that Benjamin Šeško will be as motivated as possible, regardless of everything in the national team kit. Or, indeed, all of the above makes it all the more…
But Benjamin Šeško is not the only one who is causing grey hairs for the Slovenian selector with his club minutes. Matjaž Kek stresses that in the Euro 2024 qualifiers we have two games ahead of us when club minutes will be the least important.
“We’re not just talking about Benjamin Šešek… We still have some players who are playing below expectations. On the other hand, we have some who constantly draw attention to themselves. Anyway, we have two games ahead of us where there will be no question of a minute more or less. It is what it is. We all know what’s coming,” added the expert from Maribor.
